About Us
Who We Are
Since 1965, Saving Sight Rhode Island has had a tangible impact on the quality of life in Rhode Island communities by providing free vision care services to medically underserved individuals and families from early childhood to old age.
The word “vision” has two meanings. It means “the ability to see,” but it also means “the ability to think about and plan for the future, using intelligence and imagination.” Both are important to Saving Sight Rhode Island.
Our Mission
We proclaim our mission in terms of saving people’s vision:
It is the mission of Saving Sight Rhode Island to screen for vision disorders, educate people about them, and use every available resource to obtain treatment for them. We network within our diverse community to identify Rhode Islanders of all ages to eliminate vision loss. Our “Vision” for the Future
As we carry out our current mission, we also look ahead to where we want to be as the future unfolds. This is our “vision”:
To become a catalyst for vision care in Rhode Island by strengthening our role as a family resource organization.
Donations
To fulfill our “vision,” we need your help. We are working to prevent blindness, vision loss, or vision impairment, through public, patient, and professional education and community service programs. Your charity donations help support such outreach programs.
Our goal is to identify those at high risk for eye diseases or disorders, increase awareness, and promote and obtain proper vision treatment. When you donate money, you help us achieve that goal.
Your Donations Matter
As one of many 501(c)3 non-profit organizations, we stand out among local charities. Our outreach programs serve the most vulnerable. We have just a few staff, and we keep administrative costs low, so that more of your tax-deductible charitable donations go directly to support our services when you donate money.
